Yamaha EX5 Editor and Librarian for Windows and Macintosh Sound Quest's Midi Quest multi-instrument editor/librarian gives you the tools to get the most from your Yamaha EX5. Midi Quest includes all of the standard features you would expect to find in a EX5 Editor and Librarian along with unique capabilities found nowhere else. MIDI Quest Pro, Midi Quest and Midi Quest Essentials allow you to manage the following SysEx data from the EX5: Performance Bank, Performance, Voice Bank 1, Voice Bank 2, Voice Bank Pre 1, Voice Bank Pre 2, Voice, VL Bank, VL and Remote Sw. Integrate the EX5 with your DAW and use it the same way as a soft-synth or run the editor as a separate application connected to your EX5. You can display, edit, tweak, organize, audition, archive and manage your EX5 from the focal point of your studio. Midi Quest offers the widest selection of editor/librarian plug-in technologies: VST, AU, MFX, and Studio Connections. Just as a VST or AU plug-in is loaded by a host, the Yamaha EX5 Editor and Librarian is designed as a module.
This module runs in all three versions of Midi Quest: Midi Quest Essentials, Midi Quest, and Midi Quest Pro. Every version of Midi Quest includes complete Editor and Librarian support for the EX5.
The more advanced versions of Midi Quest include additional features such as plug-in capabilities, patch generators, and advanced tools to manage larger MIDI systems and patch collections. Below is a small sampling of Midi Quest features. For more detail on Midi Quest and the differences between the three versions, please click here. I'm waiting for my EX5 to come in the mail so I haven't dug into it yet, but there is a that seems fairly active with some experienced EX5 programmers, if you are on Facebook. It looks like the big resource (+ forum) was although I read somewhere (recently - in the last month or so) that the person running the website has been having trouble with the web hosting service, and so the forum is temporarily down. There is also a big community at, which may not be that active but should have a large backlog of information. I don't know if this is something to do with my settings, but whenever I edit a parameter (most notably filter settings) in a patch I have to retrigger a key to hear the change.
The eight knobs can be set to modify in realtime when you are not editing, but that is all I have pieced together about that matter. Not to threadjack, but if anyone knows anything about this, please enlighten me on such a tip. As for actual tips I find it helpful to switch off elements of the patch to make changes more apparent. If I remember correctly, the top row of rightmost buttons on the right of the whole unit should do the trick.
Each button corresponds to its own element of the sound, and has a light underneath showing the status of the element (on or off). Not sure if that is actually helpful/new info, but once I discovered it I was glad to know I could separate out elements. You don't want to miss FDSP. Main Hoon Don Remix Song Mp3 Download. It really spices up your patch.
Also judicious routing of the effects can be prevent it from sounding muddy (e.g. The attack part through a delay, and the pad part through a chorus), and remember that there is also a 'static' filter, somewhat like an EQ, which can accentuate or tame things like boomy, nasal, etc. The ARP is fun, you can change the start time of the layers, you can set up complex controller sets where one controller can affect different parameters in different layers, and you've got 4 LFOs. If you're into drums, it has very many options for that, but I've never tried them.
Hi All, I wanted to use Q11 with Yamaha EX5. Complete failure I have found some bug in the driver: 1. When I start getting Voice Bank 1 (or any other), downloading starts but it stops after one Voice. 18:48:49.388 To UM-1 SysEx Yamaha 8 bytes 18:48:49.399 From UM-1 SysEx Yamaha 890 bytes halt If I remove SetSysXFilter and ClrSysXFilter macros from the Receive driver and turn off the midi clock in EX5 (Utility/SEQ/SYNC page MIDI Ctrl Out = off), the GET process is ending successfully (the full bank is downloaded.) I think the source of the problem is that the 'Vari Size checkbox=on' and the SysExFilter macro are used together at the same time. Other driver, which doesn’t use them together, works correctly (for example Access Virus Rack XL). After that, when I successfully downloaded the full bank, the name of the Voices is wrong.
At the 7th position an empty character inserts (appears) - from position 0 to 6 characters appear correctly - and as a result the last (11th) character gets lost. The driver uses 7 bit Data Format, but EX5 sends bulk dump with 7/8 byte format.
This is similar to KORG 7/8 format, but the extra byte position is not before the first byte, but after the 7th one, at the 8th position. I have tried every Data Format but nothing worked correctly.
The most parameter values in the Voice Editor are different from the relevant ones in the EX5. If I put the data to the EX5, receiving will be successful (no midi data dump error), but the position of some voice will be changed. Some information regarding my system: EX5 OS: MAIN ROM Ver=1.0D '00.02.03 TAG ROM Ver.=1.11 99.01.27 Midi interface: MOTU Miditimepiece AV (but I tried with Roland UM1 as well) MAC OS 10.6.8 Is there any kind of solution for this problem? The individual who created the EX5 editor left Sound Quest long ago so you'll have to excuse me while I get up to speed with it. I looked at sample data from the EX5 and while it appears to start in a 7/8 (inverse M1) format for the first 64 bytes, it doesn't appear to maintain it.
If you could send us a sample SQS file, we could review a dump of the data from your instrument here and see if it appears to be the same. We have built in a new data format based on the theoretical 7/8 format but I am not yet convinced that the data dump uses it consistently through the entire dump and we may need to revert back to the 7-bit format with a special edit command / display option for the names.
I believe the problem with the SysEx filter may be channel related but it is certainly not critical to the driver so may be removed. I have looked at some of the data and it appears to be matching up where there is some that appears to be a problem.
I will look at the remainder later. It definitely appears based on what I am seeing that there is a problem with the names but in general, trying to use a 7/8 format would not work properly. The bug is in the EX5 sysex dump.
The dump jumps a byte in the name area thus giving you the space. The only way to compensate for this would be to fix it in the receive and transmit macros since the string control has not way to deal with non-sequential bytes that I know of. If the editor shows all the other parameter values correctly then the author created his editor without compensating for this bug. The EX5 is notorious for its bugs. Check out the website.
The ROM version you have is not the last one created but even that one has its problems. I've been creating my own editor for it but do not have a working editor to share at this time. I had to receive the dump to an area I added at the end of the file and then copied the data into the correct location with the 'empty byte' removed.
I then had to recreate that 'empty byte' when sending it back to the EX5.
